- דּוּת, חַדּוּתf. (sub. בית) m. a subterranean masoned store-room, cistern, cellar. (Syr. חדותא grex, horreum, P. sm. 1200. (In Mishnah Seder Tohăroth חדות, v. R. S. to Ohol. XI, 8. B. Bath.IV, 2 he who sells a house, has not sold with it לא את הבור ולא את הר׳ either the pit or the duth. Ib. 64a אחד הבור ואחד הד׳וכ׳ bor and duth are subterranean, בור בחפירה ד׳ בבנין a bor is made by digging, a duth by masonry. Tosef.Erub.XI (VIII), 18; Tosef.Pes.I, 3 היציע והד׳; Y. ib. I, 27b top והחד׳. Ib. בח׳ שיש להוכ׳ treating of a ḥadduth which has a lid. R. Hash. III, 7.Y.Ab. Zar.
